All the rumours and predictions for the up-and-coming Apple September Event

It’s time to get excited, Apple fans. The tech giants have once again announced a big September event which means big news for people excited for the iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7 and the AirPods Series 3.

In this blog, we go through all the online rumours so you don’t have to. Here’s what's expected to be announced during the live stream on the 14th of September.

What we know so far… the iPhone 13

It’s been a year since the iPhone 12 was released so it’s almost time for the next game-changing iPhone. Apple always announces their new iPhones in September and this year will be no different. The iPhone 13 is the most likely bit of tech that will be announced during the Apple event and just like its predecessors, there will be multiple versions to buy. Along with the iPhone 13, there will also be an iPhone 13 Mini, an iPhone 13 Pro and an iPhone 13 Pro Max, which should come in a range of different colours.

The iPhone 13s will have a brand new chip - the A15 chip. This is exciting for iPhone users as in testing, the new chip has 13.7% faster performance capability than the A14 chip used in the iPhone 12s. It is also believed that the new iPhones will have an improved camera and an always-on display which could result in larger battery life.

What we know so far… the Apple Watch Series 7

Since Apple changed the design of the Apple Watch Series 4, it hasn't changed much. This looks like it will be the case this time around, too, as there isn't expected to be massive changes to the design of this years' watch. However, the Apple Watch Series 7 will have a flat-edged design (like the iPhone 12), which is unlike other Apple Watches. It is also expected that the Apple Watch Series 7 will be the largest to date. Instead of the classic 40mm or 44mm options, the Apple Watch Series 7 can be 41mm or 45mm.

What we know so far… the Apple AirPods Series 3

Despite the AirPods Max that come out earlier this year, Apple isn’t done with new AirPods this year as it looks likely that along with the iPhone 13 and the Apple Watch Series 7, we will also get a brand another new pair at the September event. The AirPods Series 3 is expected to be announced on the 14th and they should come out at the same time as the iPhone 13 and the new Apple Watch.

If you go by the leaked images of the AirPods, the third series of the headphones will look like a cross between the classic AirPods and the AirPods Pro. It is still unclear if they will have silicone ear tips or not. It has long been rumoured for a long time that Apple has been developing a new wireless chip that could be added to the AirPods Series 3.

When Can I get my hands on these?

The iPhone 12 was delayed last year. The phone was released in October, which is rare for Apple as they like to bring out iPhones in September. With the iPhone 13, Apple plan to go back to what they normally do, as the rumoured release date is at the end of September, most likely the 24th of September.

It is also likely that the Apple Watch Series 7 and the AirPods Series 3 will also be released at the same time as the iPhone 13.

If you are interested in watching the Apple event on Tuesday, Apple has the plan to stream the event on YouTube, their website and AppleTV.

Frequently Asked Questions

While you’ve probably got a 12 months manufacturer’s warranty this only covers you for mechanical breakdown. Our iPhone 13 insurance includes cover for cracked screens, liquid damage, accidental damage, loss and theft., Once your 12-month warranty is up, we cover mechanical breakdown too!

We have a choice of cover so that you can find the level of insurance that meets your needs. Our Essential level of cover looks after you in the UK or abroad for breakdown, loss, theft, fraudulent use and accidental damage (yes, that includes cracked screens and dropping your mobile/gadget down the toilet). In addition, we have other levels of cover that insures you against unauthorised calls and includes mobile/gadget accessories cover, extended cover abroad (365 days a year) and liquid damage.

Your iPhone might be covered under your home insurance but the cover is unlikely to cover all of your needs and could leave you without a mobile phone for a considerable amount of time as home insurance claims can take a while to resolve.

Home insurance isn’t designed with your iPhone in mind, so is unlikely to cover you for fraudulent use or unauthorised calls. Furthermore, if you claim on your home insurance, the excess you may be required to pay could be higher than the cost of having separate mobile phone insurance. Naturally, your contents insurance premium may then increase when your policy comes to renewal, due to the claim you made.

Please make sure you view the benefits and cover of each mobile phone insurance policy before you make a decision. If you’re not sure, give us a call and we’ll help explain our cover options further.

You can pay for your policy annually or monthly (except for our Essentials cover). For monthly payable policies we set up a subscription for the monthly instalments and the premium will be taken from the bank card you provide to us.

If you have a preferred day on which you would like payment to be taken be sure to start your policy from that day of the month. We are not able to change payment collection days once the policy is active because the payment date directly aligns with the policy cover periods.

Yes, your phone must be have been purchased in the UK. You can insure mobiles that you have purchased from network providers, direct from manufacturers or a high street store.

If you purchase your mobile as a refurbished device, it must have at least a 12-month warranty.

Our Essential policy only insures refurbished gadgets that are purchased directly from network providers or manufacturers. This clause does not apply to our Premium & Ultimate products.

We cover lots of things, and damage to your new iPhone is one of them. Cracked screens are covered and any damage that stops your iPhone working as it should. However, scratches and dents are just part of wear and tear and are not covered.

Next Generation Insurance (NextGen) is an insurance intermediary (broker) and not an insurance company. We sell and administer gadget and mobile phone insurance products on behalf of insurance companies.

We only work with A-Rated Insurers, which means your cover is with reputable insurers. The underwriters that we work with are Axa Insurance (Premium & Ultimate products) or Zenith (Essential product).

We can insure the iPhone that belongs to you, or your immediate family as long as they live at the same address as you. By ‘immediate family’ we mean your Mother, Father, Son, Daughter and spouse.
