What to expect at the Samsung Unpacked event this February

Mark the 9th of February 2022 in your diary, as the Samsung Unpacked event is coming! Starting at 3pm (U.K. time) Samsung’s Unpacked event will be live-streamed for the world to see on the Samsung website and most likely their YouTube channel. In this blog, we’ll give you a quick run-down of all the latest rumours, including the potential prices and release dates of Samsung’s new devices.

The Samsung Galaxy S22

The Samsung S22 series is expected to be the main showpiece from the up-and-coming Unpacked event. Like the S21 the Samsung Galaxy S22 should come with a larger version Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra; both will be 5G ready.

There is reason to be excited if you believe what Dr TM Roh has been saying in Samsung’s press release. The President and Head of MX Business for Samsung Electronics stated: "At Unpacked in February 2022, we’ll introduce you to the most noteworthy S series device we’ve ever created. The next generation of Galaxy S is here, bringing together the greatest experiences of our Samsung Galaxy into one ultimate device”.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is expected to be released on the 24th of February and if the mobile phone follows the pattern of the S21, the Samsung Galaxy S22 price could start from £769. However, the S21 had a big price slash compared to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S20, therefore there’s a chance Samsung will raise the prices back to what the S20 was.

Galaxy Tab S8 

Expect more than just a phone from the Samsung Unpacked 2022 event as the Galaxy Tab S8 is likely to be announced on the 9th of February. Leakers aren’t expecting much of a jump in quality from the S7 Tab to the S8 Tab but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get excited (it sounds similar to how there wasn't a big jump from the iPhone 12 to the iPhone 13).

Predicted to be launching three versions of the device, the Galaxy Tab S8 will also have a Galaxy Tab S8+ and a Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, which like the S22, will be released on the 24th of February 2022.

There should also be options for a 5G version as well as a cellular version. According to Apuals, the price for the Tab S8 will start from £540, which seems reasonable when compared to Apple's latest iPad which starts at just over £700.

Any other business

It's unlikely that there will be any real big surprises in store for this event. With the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Flips only being released late last year, and with no other leaks to speak of, it's probable that this will be it.

However, last year during the first Unpacked event of 2021, Samsung did drop the Galaxy Buds 2 and the Galaxy Smart Tag so there is always a chance of something unexpected. Add the event to your calendar or pre-register here.
